Glossy Dogs Dog Grooming
Terms & Conditions / Privacy Notice / Prices (May 2024)
Pet examinations
During the grooming process great care is taken to ensure the health of your dog. We will examine your dog for lumps, bumps and skin conditions before & during the grooming session.
Glossy Dogs is not liable for any pre-existing conditions or problems found during the session. We will notify you of any discoveries and advise if we feel you need to consult your vet.
If your dog has any medical issues please let us know before the groom starts so we can take this into account.
We are happy to use any medicated shampoos your vet has supplied.
Groomers are no longer permitted to empty anal glands and would advise a visit to the vets if necessary, as a result we are no longer insured to carry out this service.
Pet health
If your pet is unwell (vomiting, diarrhoea, kennel cough) please let us know before your arrival as we will need to reschedule your appointment, this is both for their safety & the safety of other dogs attending the salon. Please advise our team of any change to your pets health or medical condition so we can update their file accordingly.
Our Insurance
We have full Public Liability insurance, full details can be provided upon request.
Matting Policy
Our grooming salon values the safety and well-being of your furry friend above all else. Unfortunately, when dogs come to us with severely matted fur the best course of action is often a shave-down.
This is because attempting to brush or demat severely tangled fur can cause significant discomfort and pain to the dog and in some cases may even result in injury.
Therefore if your dog comes in with severely matted fur we recommend a shave-down for comfort and safety. Our groomers will take great care to ensure that your dog is as comfortable as possible throughout the process and will work with you to determine the best length and style for your pets new haircut.
We understand a shave-down may not be your preferred grooming option but please know that it is always done in your pets best interests. We encourage you to maintain your dogs grooming needs on a regular basis to avoid matting and potential discomfort in the future.
Thank you for entrusting us with your pets grooming needs.
Please note that an extra charge of £10 will occur with a matted coat. This is to cover the extra time and the wear and tear to the clipper blades.
Fleas
Please note that pets with fleas cannot be accepted. If your pet has fleas please treat them prior to visiting the salon. Should we discover fleas during the course of the groom a flea surcharge of £10 will apply (this covers the cost of bathing your dog using insecticidal shampoo and thorough cleaning & disinfecting the salon prior to the next clients arrival.
Cancellations / Missed Appointments
We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise and you may need to cancel or reschedule your grooming appointment. To ensure that our business runs efficiently and our groomers are fairly compensated we have a cancellation policy in place.
We require a minimum of 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling appointments. If you cancel or reschedule within 24 hours of your appointment time we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of 50% of the grooming service cost. If you do not show up for your appointment without giving any notice we reserve the right to charge the full grooming service cost.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to our cancellation policy. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
Pets Welfare / Misbehaving Dogs / Aggressive Behaviour
Please note grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, especially with senior or dogs with health problems. Grooming may expose hidden medical conditions or aggravate existing ones during or after the session. Stressed pets with health conditions require extra care due to them having a greater chance of injury therefore these pets maybe groomed for cleanliness and comfort in styles that will not add to their stress.
Please advise our team if you dog has any history of behavioural habits such as biting or being aggressive to other dogs.
If your dog is nervous & gets unsettled in the presence of others please advise prior to arrival so we can take extra measures to ensure the safety or staff and other dogs we may have in the salon.
At any point during the groom your dog is traumatised, very stressed or behaving too aggressive we will stop the service and contact you to arrange collection.
If we need to stop the groom because of this the full grooming fee will still be payable.
If your dog cannot be around others due to either aggressive behaviour towards other dogs or are extremely nervous we can make exclusive bookings. Please note these bookings are limited and not always guaranteed and an additional fee of £20 will be added to the groom price to cover loss of earnings.
Glossy Dogs reserve the right to refuse any dogs with aggressive or difficult behaviour problems.
Appointments
All appointments are requested by the owner and confirmed by Glossy Dogs to ensure that all bookings are maintained and no overlapping appointments occur.
Once bookings have been confirmed an approximate finish time is provided by the team, upon completion you will receive communication for you to arrange collection.
Please do not arrive prior to being contacted as this may resolve the groom being unfinished due to the dog becoming unsettled or excited by the sight of their owner.
Arriving 15 minutes after the start of your appointment without any communication with our team will be marked as a missed appointment (please refer to cancellations & missed appointments for more details)
If necessary Glossy Dogs reserve the right to reschedule appointments to a suitable time.
